about

Medusa is a fascinating and powerful figure from ancient Greek mythology. Her snakey hair and petrifying gaze have inspired countless images and stories over the centuries but we have yet to pierce her mystery. Who was Medusa, and who is she today? Where is Medusa in our 21st century collective psyche?

On March 15th the Radio Free Joshua Tree Listening Lounge in downtown Joshua Tree was jampacked with people who turned out to hear the work of local poets on the Medusa theme. We were surrounded by The Musing on Medusa art show, and these visual interpretations complemented and juxtaposed the poetry.

Medusa was smiling or frowning down on us as we heard her story–and ours. Where is Medusa in your life? How do you see her?

Many thanks to the participating poets for sharing their diverse and original work.
