about

The story of Perceval’s quest for the grail is an invitation to consider your destiny and quest for self-knowledge and inner authority, and to consciously determine what is of greatest value to you. What do you long for and love? How can you be true to yourself? What does the grail hold for you?

These are questions that we posed to local area poets, and in this program you’ll hear some of the poetry that was read at the Voice of the Grail spoken word event held at the RFJT Beatnik Lounge in Joshua Tree in March 2015.

This sampling is designed to give you a sense of the breadth of response. It includes (listed in order):

• Caryn Davidson reading “Grail”
• Shauna Tucker reading “Wonderland of Grail”
• George Howell reading “The Flower Maidens of Tijuana”
• KL Straight reading the triptych “Cut Mouth,” “Tender Mother,” and “Acoustic Crest”
• Greg Gilbert reading “Balladeers of the Empty Glove”
• Robert Morris reading and excerpt from Thomas Malory’s Morte D’Arthur, followed by a ditty that I’m titling “Periodic Table of Arthurian Names”
• Elizabeth Wyatt reading “Desert Wildlife Concessional”

Many thanks to the participating poets.
